Crackle, RSS and You
RSS is a wonderful thing. You can use it to keep current on the web activities of your favorite web sites without having to visit the site or without them sending you email. At Crackle all of our channels, shows and even the users have RSS feeds- all you need to do is subscribe.
Something you can subscribe to will have an image like this near it:
When you click on that image a page should appear in your browser that is a list of images and descriptive text. That arrangement of data is called an RSS feed. Note that it has a title and description of the feed for easy recognition later.
Your browser should present you a list of subscription options. The number of options depends on the programs you have installed on your machine but there should be some default choices. Google Reader can be found in the normal installation of Firefox. Once you have selected your reader of choice you can view that reader to see the selection of items that you subscribed to. Give it a try using your reader and the feed for our exclusive South By Southwest music festival coverage:
SXSW
- Discover the hottest new bands, and catch all your favorites from the huge headliners.
The best part of RSS is that every time you return to your reader, it will check to see if anything new has been added to the feed and if so, present that to you in your list. You choose when you check for updates.
So keep an eye out for the RSS icon. If you see something or some one you like, stay in touch, subscribe.
